Cloudburst’s new 23.9 kW Solar Photovoltaic system went live June 11, 2010. We expect to generate nearly two thirds of the electrical power consumed at our facility each year. Generating Clean Power we will reduce our carbon output. Any power we generate in excess of what we use on site will flow back onto the electrical grid for public use.
This is a major step in our Energy Self-Sufficiency Plan. We also collect enough waste vegetable oil from our restaurant customers to produce biodiesel equivalent to two thirds of the fuel consumed by our collection fleet.
We are proud of these accomplishments.

Christmas trees can be collected on yard debris day. (It is against City regulations for us to collect them as garbage.)

Please remove all ornaments, tinsel, stands, etc prior to collection. There is an extra charge of $4 for trees up to 8 ft tall, or $6 for taller trees. Trees may be cut up and placed in your yard debris rollcart for no additional charge, provided you can close the lid. Do NOT jam the tree into the cart: it must fall loosely from the cart when we dump it into the truck!

THANKS, and HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Cloudburst Recycling was founded in 1975 by David and Michela McMahon. We celebrated the 35th anniversary of our first collection route on April 15th.

Rex Burkholder, a candidate for Chairman of the Metro Regional Government, stated in the Voter’s Pamphet that he “co-founded Cloudburst Recycling”. This unfortunate statement is completely inaccurate. Rex has apologized for his error.

Rex did work at Cloudburst, but not until 1980-81 (for roughly 18 months), more than 5 years after Cloudburst’s founding.

More discussion of this matter can be found at Willamette Week’s blog.
